The cherry blossom trees in Washington, DC along the Potomac River were in full bloom this spring with their spectacular show of annual beauty.

On the one hand our lives are brief: “Our days may come as seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away. (Psalm 90:10)

On the other hand we are an express of the beauty of our Lord: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”  (Psalm 139:14)

Rejoice in the beauty of creation, and allow the beauty and love of our Lord to shine through you.

May the expression of God’s fireworks that is you bring joy to those around you.

                                                         Joy to you – E. Stanley Ott, May 5, 2015  Vol. 14, No. 17, GOD’S FIREWORKS (2015)

Prayer Suggestions

  • Offer a thankful prayer for the beauty of God’s world.  Ask for eyes to see and ears to hear the wonder all around us.

  • Seek wisdom to find ways to use your God given talents to enhance God’s world.

  • Pray for those who have abandoned hope.

  • Pray that world leaders can begin useful conversations that point the way to peaceful solutions.

  • Pray for comfort and healing for members of our church family who are hurting, grieving, ill, injured, lonely, or sad.  May they know the Lord’s peace!  May they feel the love of Our Lord, shining through us, as we extend the hand of friendship in His name.

  • Pray for Rev. Ellie Lea as she encounters her upcoming surgery.

  • Give thanks that you are “fearfully and wonderfully made,” knowing that God doesn’t make mistakes.
